Six members killed at once-landslide Kaski

Six members of a family were killed when a landslide swept away their house at Thumki VDC-7 in Kaski district on Monday morning.The landslide triggered by heavy rains swept away the thatched-roof house belonging to a Dalit family at around 6 am, police said.Dhanamaya Pariyar, 65, Naramaya Pariyar, 60, Dhani Pariyar, 35, Mamata Pariyar, 13, Shanti Pariyar, 9, and Sajan Pariyar, 8, were buried to death in the incident, while villagers rescued 68-year-old Chandra Bahadur Pariyar.“The villagers also rescued Mamata and Shanti alive. But they died after some time for want of treatment,” said Til Bahadur Thapa of Thumki. He said the villagers could not take them to a hospital as transportation services were disrupted due to incessant rainfall for the past few days.“The landslide came up from a huge mound of soil on the road side above the house that was piled up while widening the road,” the VDC secretary of Thumki, Durgaraj Subedi, said.
Security personnel reached the site of the incident—a four-hour walk from Lekhnath Municipality—at noon
